Golfweek Magazine Ranks Tidewater As South Carolina’s Seventh Best Public Course
CHERRY GROVE, S.C. -- “Golfweek’s Best” has hit newsstands, and a familiar name is featured prominently among the magazine’s annual ranking of South Carolina’s best public courses.
Tidewater Golf Club, one of the prettiest courses along the East Coast, is the seventh best public layout in South Carolina, according to Golfweek. The game’s largest team of raters evaluated courses throughout the nation, allowing the magazine to compile its list of the “The Best Courses You Can Play,” a ranking of the best public facilities in each state.
With nine holes that play along either Cherry Grove Inlet or the Intracoastal Waterway, it was no surprise to see Tidewater ranked among the golf-rich Palmetto State’s best. The holes along Cherry Grove - 3, 4, 12 and 13 - are particularly stunning.

The fourth hole, a gentle dogleg left that hugs the inlet from tee-to-green, is Myrtle Beach’s most visually stunning par 4, while the par 5 13th offers golfers a distant view of the Atlantic Ocean. Holes three and 12 are two of the state’s prettiest and most daunting par 3s, adding to the allure of the round.
A course doesn’t earn the accolades Tidewater has received without being strong from beginning to end. The layout’s coastal beauty is complemented by the strength and creativity of its inland holes, solidifying its status as one of the Palmetto States finest.

As America begins to emerge from its fight with the Covid-19 pandemic, golfers are again flocking to Myrtle Beach, and Tidewater in particular, enjoying the course’s combination of unforgettable views and outstanding architecture.
Tidewater allows players to book golf directly on its website or as part of a golf package. The Myrtle Beach Elite package, which pairs Tidewater, with Arrowhead Country Club, Arcadian Shores and Prestwick Country Club, remains of the Grand Strand’s most popular stay-and-play offers.

In a market with a seemingly never-ending list of outstanding courses, Golfweek’s ranking reaffirmed Tidewater’s place among South Carolina’s best golf designs.
